New Testament: Matt 6.31–32
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 6 on January 7, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
Jesus questioned why we worry about what we are going to eat, drink, and wear. In other words, we act as though our heavenly Father does not know what we need:
“Therefore do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”
– Matthew 6.31–32
He implied that since our Father knows what we need, he will fill those needs. Therefore, worry is vain. It does not help us. And it shows that we believe that either God cannot or will not give us the necessities of life.
Questions:
- Do you believe?
- Do you worry about things other than food, drink, and clothing?
- If so, why do you worry?
