New Testament: Matt 21.7–8
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 21.1–22 on January 31, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
The Jews knew the prophecy of Zechariah 9.9, that their King would come riding on a colt. First, the disciples retrieved the animal as the Lord directed:
They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them.
– Matthew 21.7
Watch what the people did:
And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
– Matthew 21.8
Excitement filled their hearts, and Jesus, no doubt, enjoyed the moment.
Let us also show our excitement for King Jesus, but let us also sustain it without letting someone or something turn us away from him, as happened later that week to those people who honored him.
Questions:
- Is Jesus your King?
- Have you been born again of the water and the Spirit?
