Receive Offerings

Old Testament: Num 7.6–9

To read the Bible in a year, read Numbers 7 on February 22, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023

By Don Ruhl

The leaders of Israel brought offerings before the Lord, and he told Moses to accept the offerings:

So Moses took the carts and the oxen, and gave them to the Levites. Two carts and four oxen he gave to the sons of Gershon…But to the sons of Kohath he gave none, because theirs was the service of the holy things, which they carried on their shoulders.

– Numbers 7.6–9

The Lord gives to us in such abundance, both for the body and for the spirit especially, that we may think we cannot make any offering to him that would please him, but he accepts what we give, and sometimes we do that by giving to someone in the Lord’s name.

If you are that someone, accept the gift, for although you may want to reject it initially, accept it because that person seeks to honor the Lord.

Questions:

  • Are you a giver or a taker?
  • If someone wants to give to you, do you receive their gift?
