New Testament: Mark 16.6
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 16 on March 17, In the year of our Lord Christ 2023
By Don Ruhl
Some women went to the tomb of Jesus to anoint him, but when they arrived, the stone that enclosed the tomb had been rolled away. When they entered the tomb, they did not see Jesus lying down, but they saw a living man inside and he was not Jesus. All these things alarmed the women, as you can imagine.
Then the young man in the long white robe said:
“Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.”
– Mark 16.6
Yes, of course, Jesus had said this would happen! Yet, to see something happen as someone has predicted, we still find hard to believe. These women should have known that they would not find Jesus there, but in their grief they did not remember what he had said.
Friends, do you know that Jesus never returned to that tomb or any tomb, but he lives in heaven for us, waiting for the time that we shall join him? Have you made preparations to meet him?
Questions:
- How does the resurrection of Jesus affect you?
- What is the hope that the resurrection of Christ gives you?
